Food coloring, dyes, and that sort of thing are pretty high on our list of things that we try to be smart about when it comes to exposing the kiddo to stuff. So we were pretty happy to find an alternative to the racks and racks of Easter Egg coloring kits that you see at the grocery store this time of year.
I have no idea if there’s anything unhealthy about traditional egg dying kits. But anything that sells for less than a dollar and is rolled in by the truckload to share shelf space with Cadbury Eggs and Marshmallow Peeps, well…that’s something we’re going to think twice about.
The Easter Egg Coloring Kit from Eco-Kids is a cute, simple egg coloring kit. The dyes are made from plant, fruit, and vegetable extracts (rather than arsenic and unicorn tears or whatever is usually in that stuff). It comes with a handy color chart to create an educational experience in turning the three natural colors into six, which is possible through some degree of childhood alchemy that makes me think there’s black magic afoot every time I see it.
But I digress.
The kit is great and the presentation will make the whole egg dying experience that much more special with the attractive half-dozen egg carton and the little brown crinkle-cut paper packaging.
We definitely recommend giving one of these a try this year as part of your Easter festivities. Hope over to the Eco-Kids website to browse and order or…
…just win one.
